The HLP rights principles training held in Juba on 27 and 28 April, 2021 under the theme “Mainstreaming Housing, Land and Property in Shelter Operations” was primarily aimed at strengthening knowledge of Shelter and Non-Food Items (S/NFI) Cluster partners on the principles of Housing, Land, and Property (HLP) rights as they prepare to carry out provision of lifesaving shelter activities in coming months.
The Shelter/NFI Cluster is seeking a Co-Lead Agency to sponsor a Co-Coordinator who will work together with the Lead Agency and the Cluster Coordinator to coordinate the Shelter and NFI Cluster, ensuring a coherent and effective emergency response by mobilizing groups of agencies, organizations and NGOs to respond in a strategic manner to humanitarian crises in South Sudan .
As of May 2020, cluster partners reached 390,398 individuals with Emergency Shelter and Non-Food Items (S-NFI) assistance, representing 30 % of the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) target in 2020. During the month of May 2020, cluster partners provided S-NFI assistance to conflict affected population as well as flood affected population mainly in Jonglei, Upper Nile, Western Bahr el Ghazal, and Abyei Administrative Area. In Jonglei State, partners provided assistance to flood affected population in Akobo and Pochalla Counties, as well as the new displaced population in Pibor County.
It is dry season, therefore most of the natural resources like grass ad rope and poles that are used for building are not available.
The host community are supporting themselves with wild fruits and water lilies . Some of them were not managing to go to get water lilies in the river to support their children/families.
