There was an assessment conducted by CIDO, HDC and other partners in Pibor areas of vertheth, Gumurk and Pibor Centre following the displacement of IDPs from different area coupled with cattle raiding related displacement. Given the magnitude of the issue, The assessment report approval by the NFI CLUSTER which led to verification and eventually distributions of S/NFIs materials to the most vulnerable IDPs and the host engulfed the situation will follow once verification report is approved as well..
Concern was alerted to the needs of this county earlier this year, however, with access being restricted, was not able to conduct the necessary assessments before this time. In April 2019, Concern was able to gain access and conducted a field mission along with ZOA, LCED, ARD. Further missions were later conducted by Concern on its own with Focus Groups being organized in Mugwo on the needs of the community. Based on this FGD and discussions with leaders in Mugwo, the detailed needs assessments (shelter to shelter) were scheduled and conducted on the 15th – 27th July, 2019.
Lacha Community and Economic Development (LCED) a non-partisan, non-profit organisation has been on the fore-front providing South Sudanese with humanitarian assistance since its inception 2008. LCED aims at supporting vulnerable, conflict-affected population from South Sudan displaced both internally and to neighbouring countries. Embedded in its mission, LCED works to save and preserve life, promote dignity and enhance resilience of vulnerable people, in order to ensure peace and promote long-term socio-economic development.
Summary of Distribution
With the support of the RRC coordinator, community mobilizers were recruited to go the bomas to message about the distribution, location, time, dates and all household entitlements of the items to be received. Chiefs and members of the local authorities also went to the villages to mobilize and inform beneficiaries about the distribution, this was done even throughout the distribution.
