Story from Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal
Tamur and her family arrived at the protection of civilians site in Wau, South Sudan, in late July due to insecurity. Their home in a nearby village was looted and much of it was destroyed during fighting in June. Due to lack of space, Tamur and her family slept in makeshift shelters when they first arrived at the site for several days until they relocated to a newly-built communal shelter, which is dry and protected from the outside. Shelter teams continue to construct new communal shelters to support new arrivals and improve living conditions for the more than 24,300 internally displaced persons sheltering at the site.
